Some founding contributors will be families determined to prevent another loss. Others will be engineers, civic mappers, geocachers, cyclists, and road workers. The standard is the same for everyone: safe collection, careful evidence, calibrated review, and partnership over hostility.

You do not owe Ground Datum your story, your image, or your grief. If you choose to help, the work is practical: build the record that may help another family avoid the same loss. Personal stories belong in voluntary, consent-controlled mission communications, never inside asset records or as a condition of participation.
No roadside task is worth another injury. “Cannot safely access” is a useful submission. The application will never penalize someone for abandoning a capture, and pedestrian capture will be prohibited where road class or conditions make it unsafe.
What happens next
- Send a short note saying which role interests you and where you are located.
- We will share the pilot protocol and current timing when the field and reviewer tools are ready.
- Early reviewers train against expert-authored, independently adjudicated calibration fixtures before production work unlocks.
- Every contributor may participate without public attribution; privacy defaults will be explained before collection.
